ANTONIO ROVERSI

On-Line Hatred

Siti ultras, nazifascismo online, jihad elettronica

This book reports the findings of a study of websites that, via the Internet, advocate violence in its most extreme forms. In particular, the author has analysed the websites of Italian radical football fan groups; the websites of (both Italian and international) extreme right-wing movements that promote Antisemitism, negation of the Holocaust, and appreciation of Fascism and Nazism; the websites of Mid-east terrorism. Such sites are extremely numerous and spread their messages in many different ways, but they share one feature: they endorse hatred and violence. The material submitted to the reader's attentions is vast and varied - documents, handbooks, pictures, films - and effectively depicts the web's "dark side".

Antonio Roversi taught Sociology of Communication at the University of Bologna.
